Juvenile Sparrowhawk , Beatrixpark, 28 June 2004
This is one of the four juvenile sparrowhawks that were raised in the Beatrixpark, Amsterdam, in 2004. The sparrowhawks breed in the park since 2002. The sparrowhawk on the picture is not very far from the nest. On June 28 the four juvenile sparrowhawks were exercising by flying from branch to branch. I discovered the nest because I saw the parents building the nest in March. During breeding it was not noticeable that the nest was occupied. That changed when the young became older. A lot of visitors of the park have enjoyed seeing the sparrowhawks.
